Unable to drill a screw to a wall?

Hi,

Pardon my ignorance. I have a drywall (I think) inside my house wherein I can hang pictures using tack pins, drill holes and use screws. I was planning to hold a ball catcher on the outside and tried drilling a hole but it wouldnt go in at all. Any ideas what kind of wall is this and what is a good way to hang something on it.

Thanks
This is on the outside. I could either be cement or bricks, right? What is a good way to hang stuff if that’s the case?

Are you sure that the wall is not cement or cinder block? Drywall is fairly soft and if you tried to use a screw, it would have gone in easily.

if it’s out side you need to get mason bit for your drill or you can get some tap gon screws &bit most likely it’s concrete out side

You have a wall of Cement Mortar onto blocks.

Go to the hardware store and get a “Cement Drill” of diameter 1/4 inch. Drill right into the wall with that about
1 1/2 deep.

Then take a drive a wooden plug into that hole. Then the screw will go into that wooden plug. Cheap and easy to do always works well.

The drill bit for concrete is a good start but to complete the job you need the correct screws – the brand name is called tapcon. If you will be driving a lot of screws a hammer drill will make the job go faster (much faster)
