i have an air nailer that is leaking in the rear of the unit (near the exhaust) there is a gasket there, that is a bit damaged. i was just wondering if i could use some silicone gasket maker to fill the space. or can someone point me in the direction of a place that sells gaskets? it is a central pneumatic framing nailer, btw. thanks!

It’s best to replace the gasket with a new one. I have used air-nailers for 20+ years and it seems like there is always one of them leaking. Best advice is to by a quality gun, just so parts are more readily available. I believe central pnematic is Harbor Freight? Try contacting them.
Our Own Hardware should have the gasket. Take the old one with you and get the part.
take it somewhere where there is new construction & be there when the nail salesman come, buy some nails & he’ll fix it free!
Call Harbor Freight Customer Service. Have the item part number available.

You can cut a new gasket from cereal box cardboard that will work just fine. I’ve done it many times. Or the silicone gasket material would work also, but make it hard to get apart next time. Of course if you are using the silicone, you’ll have to take it apart to do it and not just smear some into the crack. Don’t let the tool snobs get to you. I used a cheapo brad gun professionally for quite a while before it gave out. And I didn’t have to worry about some bozo stealing it.
