While trying to remove the three bolts that hold the hub in I cracked 3 craftsmen sockets and rounded the heads of the bolts some. What will get them out? I do not have an impact wrench….and please don’t say “just take it to a mechanic”

As a mechanic, there isn’t a lot that you can do without something to heat the bolts up and the force of an impact. You could try soaking it with WD40 or PB Blaster or something that is equivalent of breaking through the rust, and try to get the most leverage possible to break the bolts loose. Hope this helps, let me know how this turns out and any futher questions you can E-Mail me at techn9ne84@yahoo.com.

sure you turning right way
heat them or hit with hammer amybe once or twice before trying
You must use 1/2 drive metric sockets preferably something a lot tougher than Craftsman. S&K sockets with a 1/2″ breaker bar or an S&K extended length 16″ wratchet. When in doubt use impact sockets on a ratchet ot breaker bar.
If you do not want to invest in an impact wrench, buy an impact socket and use a breaker bar. Put pressure on the breaker bar and hit the bar with a hammer. The hammer will cause the same effect as an impact wrench and it should come off. Be sure to use a 6-point and not a 12-point socket.
use a breaker bar [24 inch]with 6 point sockets ,impact sockets.
